Sunrise Church:  H1N1 Awareness

As we are all very aware the H1N1 virus may prove to be a formidable threat in regard to general public safety. As such, Sunrise Church wants to be proactive regarding what preventive measures we will undertake to help mitigate the potential spread of the flu among our congregation during Sunrise worship services and mid-week activities.

Our initiatives focus on our weekend worship services and our Children’s Ministry:

Weekend Worship Services

In addition to general increased cleaning and sanitizing, we will provide ample availability of tissues and antibacterial lotions for congregational use. We are also asking each person to carefully assess their own health for any personal symptoms regarding H1N1 before making the decision to attend worship. We are requesting the same, if not increased level of self-evaluation and care, from all our staff and ministry volunteers.

Nursery and Children’s Ministries

We are developing a specific protocol of precautions, sanitizing initiatives, and preventive measures to protect our children. These precautions and preventive measures have been outlined in a flyer to families with children who participate in our weekend services and/or mid-week programs (click here to view). The guidelines also suggest a protocol for assessing the health of each child before attending any activities. As suggested by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “Children and early childhood providers with H1N1 flu related symptoms or illnesses should remain home until 24 hours after resolution of fever without the use of fever reducing medications.”
