Started in January 2004, the Welcome Home GWOT (Global War on Terror) Heeroes Program has supported welcoming events for returning soldiers; airmen, and families along with Memorial Services, Wounded Warrior Socials, and other functions not readily supported by DOD funding.  It also supports special needs for wounded warriors units at local installation hospitals, rehabilitative facilities, and the Warrior Transition Unit.

Hungry Heroes is onef their programs, in partnership with the Southern Colorado McDonald's operators.  Citizens are invited to actively participate in welcoming home troops based in the Colorado Springs area following their return from active theaters of operation.  You show up for a flight at the airport, hand out a hamburger and soda, and say thanks to 300 soldiers getting off the plane!
