In 2003, it was estimated that 85,000 people in El Paso County did not have health insurance. Likewise many thousands did not have access to a doctor; other than turning to an emergency room. Although there were area clinics that were making an effort to help meet the needs of those in need; the demand far outweighed the supply, resulting in a huge burden on our emergency rooms. Our mission is heal the sick in the name of Jesus Christ.

Mission Medical Clinic

Under the umbrella of the Christian Healing Network (a 501(c)(3) non-profit), several Colorado Springs churches and individuals were determined to open a free clinic that would serve as a caring and loving environment for healing. The long-term goal was to provide three areas of care - medical, dental, and psychological. Continuing care for chronic conditions would be a major area of emphasis.

As a result of the efforts of the Christian Healing Network, the Mission Medical Clinic opened January 31, 2004. It is located at 2125 E. La Salle Street, Colorado Springs, CO. The clinic provides medical care and free medications for all patients who qualify. Patients show income verification that they fall at or below 185% of the federal poverty guidelines. Chronic illness is a major focus of the clinic. Patients make appointments for their next time to see the doctor before they leave.

It is staffed by volunteers for all services. Pharmacy Assistance is also a big part of the mission work. Trained volunteers and pharmacy personnel fill out paper work to qualify patients for free medications from the companies who make the medication. This is an extensive and meticulous process for which more volunteers are always needed.

Appointments may be made by calling 219-3402. Prospective patients leave their phone number and name, and they will receive a call back to schedule an appointment and advise them if their symptoms mean they need immediate care.

Since our doors opened in 2004, we have had over 2000 patient visits

Volunteers wishing to help with the clinic should call Mary Jane Ray at 599-6925 or contact your local church coordinator if there is one. Prayer is offered to each patient - but never forced; respecting each patient's private religious experience. Healing takes place in the prayer room. To help with prayer call: Lindsey Erwin at the clinic 219-3402. Cooks who wish to cook supper or lunch for our volunteers should contact Sue Berends at 590-7639 (this is a wonderful and needed ministry.)
