Philosophy:

Sunrise nursery provides a secure and loving environment for young children while families can refresh their spirits and strengthen their faith through worship and Bible study.  We also start to build a foundation of faith in these young children by sharing the love of Jesus Christ through the actions and words of our caregivers.  Sunrise nursery desires to partner with parents in the spiritual growth of their children.

Then, gathering the children up in his arms, he laid his hands of blessing on them.

Mark 10:16 (The Message)

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to provide a secure, loving environment in which children ages 6 weeks to 3 years experience God’s unconditional love.

Nursery Hours:

A nursery is provided for children, ages 6 weeks to 3 years, for all church services and many church-wide events and activities.  The nursery will open 15 minutes prior to the beginning of a church function and will promptly close 15 minutes after the event is over.

Safety:

Your child’s safety and security is of utmost importance to Sunrise We have strict sign in/out procedures and all of our staff have passed background checks and trained in CPR and First Aid.  They also received quarterly training in early childhood issues.

Sunrise nursery routinely sanitizes toys and all surfaces.  Maintenance and deep cleaning are done on a regular basis.

Our child/staff ratio is one adult per five children and one adult per three infants.  Per Safe Sanctuary regulations we maintain at least two staff members in the nursery at all times.

Healthy Kids:

We like happy, healthy kids! Sunrise nursery does all it can to keep your child healthy.  For the protection of all, we cannot accept your child with a runny nose with cloudy discharge, fever, vomiting, rash, persistent cough, diarrhea, or other symptoms.  Do not place your child in the nursery while they are at risk of exposing other children.  Please notify the nursery within 24 hours if your child may have exposed others in the nursery with an illness.

What to Bring:

When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items:

  • Two or three diapers
  • Pacifier or other security item
  • A complete change of clothes, just in case
  • A bottle or sealed sippy cup of milk, formula, juice, or water

Allergy Note:  If you elect to pack snack food, please be aware that for allergy reasons, Sunrise is a ‘peanut’ and ‘tree-nut’ free zone.  The staff will dispose of any foods containing nuts and remove them from the room.

Checking In:

A nursery attendant will meet you at the check-in area to receive your child and any other necessary items.  Please label all personal items with your child’s first and last name.  Sign in and note any information that will help in caring for your child, such as allergies and any special needs.

At this time you will receive a pager assigned to your child’s name.  If you are needed, you will be paged.  Please hold or wear the page at all times.  Present the pager when you return to the nursery.  A child will not be released without presentation of the assigned pager and matching sign out signature.

After completing the check in process, simply wave a quick goodbye and depart.  If your child does not stop crying after 10 minutes, we will page you to return.

Checking out:

Please be prompt in picking your child up from the nursery.   Nursery staff will expect the same person to drop off and pick up each child unless special instructions are given at check in.  Please make sure that all your child’s personal items have been returned to you before you leave the premises.  Lost and found items will retained for a short time.  Items not claimed after none month will be donated to charity.

After leaving the Church:

It is beneficial to both you and your child to talk about their experiences at church.  Even if your child isn’t talking yet, you can talk about the people they met, the activities they did and the things they saw.  Each month there is a newsletter of activities you can do with your child to help develop his or her spiritual growth.

We hope you will use our loving nursery on a regular basis so you can participate in Worship, Sunday School, Bible studies and other church activities.  We love getting to know your children and look forward to seeing them each week.
