Welcome up the mountain to Templed Hills! … Where adult, youth and children's lives are changed! Templed Hills is an extension of the ministry of the 270 United Methodist Churches of the Rocky Mountain Conference. Programs and spaces are provided to help in building healthy relationships with God, others and nature.
FUTURE: The Rocky Mountain Conference has voted to put Templed Hills up for sale. The sale process could take up to a couple years to go complete. Attempts are being made to keep it as a camp and Retreat Center. Buildings still need to be kept and groups are still welcome to come up.
Templed Hills has Christian Camping Programs for 1st to 12th grade, from July 6-August 8. Camperships are available to those who need assistance.
"TEMPLED HILLS": Our name is from the song "America." Verse 2 sings: "...I love thy rocks and hills, thy woods and templed hills…" Templed Hills is truly a splendid place to love.
HOSPITALITY: We provide hospitality to Youth & Adult Church Groups of many faiths, Mission Work Teams, Non-profit organizations, School Groups, Family Reunions, Training Courses and Individuals. We provide summer camp experiences to campers age 4 thru 12th grade from the United Methodist Church and other churches; campers without a church connection are also welcomed.
OUR MISSION: Templed Hills Camp and Retreat Center provides a Christian environment apart from everyday life where groups of all ages will have an opportunity to experience God's presence through rest, renewal, reflection, reconciliation and re-creation. Templed Hills provides a Summer Camp Program that emphasizes Christian community and outdoor education.
RELATIONSHIPS: Relationships make Templed Hills special. Our staff specialize in more than quality service, we give personal service. We value our relationships with guests and care about the success of your retreat.
Templed Hills is unique among summer camps; our specialized small-group camp program fosters positive Christian relationships with God, others and nature. Since 1957, thousands of campers, guests, volunteers and staff have had life-changing camp experiences.
TEMPLED HILLS' FACILITY: is a year-round home-away-from-home for a variety of non-profit organizations, families and individuals. Nestled in the mountains of the Pike National Forest (next to Pike's Peak), Templed Hills is 155 acres of mountain splendor at 8,200 feet. With 600' elevation change on site, our trails are exhilarating. Our alpine forest opens in the center of camp to give spectacular mountain views and playing fields.
We provide a variety of lodging from comfortable hotel-style with private bath, to dorm-style and basic summer huts. All are meant to enhance your experience of nature and relationships with others. Lodging is within easy walking distance with our dining hall-an experience in home-style buffet eating.
MEETINGS & SEMINARS: Templed Hills is perfect for meetings and seminars with spaces for groups of various sizes. Between sessions, wander outside without the hustle and noise of daily life. (For training courses and working sessions, we will soon have wireless internet in Eagle's Nest.)
ACTIVITIES: Guests may experience quiet meditation, peaceful forest walks, and conversation with a friend; or choose team building through low ropes course, high ropes course or rock climbing. Other activities include snow tubing, nature hikes, experiential environmental programs, volleyball, baseball/soccer, Frisbee golf, horseshoes, campfires and star gazing.
HISTORY IN BRIEF: In 1955, leaders of the Evangelical United Brethren Church hiked in to the present property, camped overnight and prayed for guidance. Two years later, an access road was built, tents were set up and camping programs began. Eventually, small camper huts were built. Juniper and Pinecrest became dorm lodges. In 1998, the first guests stayed at Eagle's Nest Lodge, initiating a new era of quality adult lodging. In 2004, the Rocky Mountain Conference churches reaffirmed this ministry's value and invested again in Templed Hills. The spirit of thousands of people inspired in these mountains go before you as you add your experience to the journey at Templed Hills.
