TESSA’s mission is to help women and their children achieve safety and well-being while challenging communities to end sexual and family violence.
Tessa's programs include:
- 24 hour Chrisis Line (about 1,100 calls per month)
- Safehouse (9,231 nights of shelter for 337 women and children in 2008)
- Children's Program, residential & non-residential (250 children in 2008)
- Victim Advocacy (1,114 victims in 2008)
- Counseling Program (366 people in 2008)
- Domestic Violence Enhanced Response Team
- Department of Human Services partnership
- Rural Program
- Prevention & Education presentations (5,083 people reached)
Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks, including filing and data entry in the office, art and recreational activities with children, answering the crisis line, helping with special events, projects, and fundraisers, or fostering pets of abuse victims. Always needed are gift cards from local retailers, city bus tickets, personal care items, diapers & wipes, and your old cell phones!
